Position Overview
The Senior Associate (Team Lead) will oversee a team responsible for investor onboarding, documentation, and data governance. This is a player-coach leadership role sitting at the intersection of Legal, Fund Accounting, and Business Development.
The position serves as the primary escalation point for complex onboarding matters, manages team workflow during high-volume fundraising periods, and ensures accuracy, compliance, and timely execution across all investor accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Serve as the primary escalation point for investor onboarding and documentation issues
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of investor operations professionals
- Monitor team capacity, workflow, and performance metrics; reallocate resources as needed
- Drive accountability, quality control, and continuous improvement across the team
Investor Onboarding & Documentation
- Oversee onboarding of new investors, including review of subscription documents and legal agreements
- Manage AML/KYC processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Coordinate internal review and approval workflows across multiple stakeholders
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of investor account setup and maintenance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Fund Accounting, and Business Development teams
- Coordinate with external counsel and third-party service providers as needed
- Lead meetings and calls with internal and external stakeholders related to onboarding and documentation
- Support broader investor communications and operational initiatives
Data Governance & Process Management
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of investor data within CRM systems
- Maintain and improve documentation workflows and internal processes
- Support reporting and tracking related to onboarding activity and investor records
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, scalability, and controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5 years of experience in investor services, investor relations operations, fund administration, or middle office roles within asset management, private equity, or private credit
- Prior experience managing or mentoring team members required
- Strong understanding of AML/KYC requirements and investor onboarding processes
- Experience reviewing subscription documents and fund-related legal documentation
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) is a plus
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment
Work Model & Compensation
- Hybrid schedule (in-office Tuesday–Thursday)
- Chicago-based role
- Base salary target: ~$110,000-$120,000
- Bonus: 10–15% target
