What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Director Ready for Life After Public Accounting position at Connect Search, LLC?
Addison, TX | Hybrid | Up to $180K Total Target Compensation | Leadership Opportunity
Love tax, but ready for a better schedule?
What if you could continue working with high-net-worth individuals, lead a team, and build a growing tax practice—without the year-round demands of traditional public accounting?
I'm partnering with an established, privately held wealth management firm in Addison that's expanding its tax services division and looking for an experienced Tax Manager or Tax Director ready to take the next step.
This isn't your typical corporate tax position.

And here's one of the biggest advantages: approximately 40-hour workweeks during the off-season (May–January).
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Up to $180K target compensation – $150K base 20% target bonus.
- Better work-life balance – Approximately 40-hour weeks during the off-season.
- Hybrid flexibility – 3 days in office / 2 remote during the off-season; 4/1 during peak tax season.
- Unlimited PTO and a collaborative, enjoyable culture.
- Leadership opportunity – Initially manage two tax professionals, with plans to grow the team.
- Build something meaningful – Help develop processes, improve operations, and scale an expanding tax practice.
- Stay close to clients – Continue working with individuals and families on meaningful tax matters.
What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee individual tax compliance, preparation, and review.
- Provide tax planning and guidance to high-net-worth individuals and families.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Manage, mentor, and develop a growing tax team.
- Improve workflows, processes, and overall efficiency.
- Partner with leadership to help expand the firm's tax services offering.
Who We're Looking For
- CPA required.
- 5 years of public accounting tax experience.
- Currently a Tax Manager, Senior Tax Manager, or Tax Director.
- Strong individual tax compliance and review experience.
- High-net-worth/private client tax experience is highly desirable.
- Comfortable communicating directly with clients and explaining complex tax matters.
- Strong technical tax knowledge, planning, and research skills.
- Someone who enjoys leadership and wants to help build a growing department.
Who Should Seriously Consider This?
If you're currently a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager at a CPA firm and have been thinking about transitioning out of public accounting, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
You don't have to leave the tax work you enjoy behind.
You can continue developing your technical expertise, working directly with clients, and leading a team—while gaining more flexibility and predictability for much of the year.
