Premium Tax Accountant (Interim – Contract Role)

Our client, a well known insurance organization is seeking an experienced Premium Tax Accountant (Interim) to support its Premium Tax Team during the peak filing season. This role provides full-cycle support for the preparation, organization, and filing of municipal and state premium tax returns. The consultant will work both independently and collaboratively with the internal tax team to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant filings across multiple jurisdictions.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and file municipal and state premium tax returns for insurance entities.
• Organize, validate, and maintain required documentation.
• Perform data entry and reconciliation within PremiumPro and Excel.
• Process and track tax payments and electronic filings.
• Monitor statutory deadlines and confirm submission accuracy.
• Partner closely with the Premium Tax team to ensure compliance objectives are met during peak season.
• Support additional corporate tax activities as needed.

What You’ll Bring

• 3–5 years of premium tax experience; insurance industry background required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or equivalent experience.
• Prior tax compliance experience with an understanding of workflow processes.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables under tight, immovable deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with PremiumPro or similar tax software is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment.
