Portfolio Analyst

Our client, a leading private equity firm is seeking a highly analytical and technically sophisticated Portfolio Analytics Analyst to join its team. This role will be responsible for delivering actionable insights across a diverse portfolio of investments, supporting executive leadership, investment professionals, and portfolio company management teams with data-driven decision making.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of finance, analytics, business intelligence, and technology skills, with a passion for leveraging advanced tools—including AI and automation technologies—to improve portfolio monitoring, reporting, forecasting, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Monitoring & Performance Analysis

• Monitor financial and operational performance across a portfolio of private equity-backed companies.
• Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), revenue growth, profitability, cash flow, working capital, customer metrics, and operational efficiency measures.
• Prepare portfolio company scorecards, dashboards, and executive reporting packages for senior leadership and investment committees.
• Support quarterly valuation, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
• Conduct variance analysis against budget, forecast, and investment underwriting assumptions.

Data Analytics & Business Intelligence

• Design and maintain automated dashboards and reporting solutions utilizing business intelligence tools.
• Aggregate and validate financial and operational data from multiple portfolio companies and data sources.
• Develop scalable reporting frameworks that provide real-time visibility into portfolio performance.
• Partner with investment teams and portfolio company leadership to identify value creation opportunities through data analysis.
• Build predictive models and analytical tools to assess performance drivers and future outcomes.

AI & Technology Enablement

• Leverage AI-powered tools and automation technologies to improve reporting efficiency, forecasting accuracy, and decision-making capabilities.
• Develop and implement AI-driven analytics solutions, including natural language reporting, predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and workflow automation.
• Utilize large language models (LLMs) and generative AI technologies to streamline data collection, reporting, and business intelligence processes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance portfolio monitoring and operational performance.
• Partner with technology teams to develop advanced data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.

Strategic Projects

• Support investment teams during acquisitions, add-on transactions, and strategic initiatives by providing financial and operational analysis.
• Assist with operational due diligence and post-acquisition performance tracking.
• Participate in value creation initiatives focused on revenue enhancement, cost optimization, pricing strategy, and operational efficiency.
• Prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for executive leadership, investment committees, and limited partner reporting.
