What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Set-up Technician position at ConMet?
Our ConMet - Canton facility is looking for a team member to join our Molding department technical team. Material Set-up Technicians at our facility move raw material, set up and monitor materials and drying systems for presses.
What You Will Do:
- Communicate with outgoing/incoming material set-up technician regarding daily instructions, production schedule and status. Determine daily workflow by referring to the molding schedule.
- Operate a forklift and hand truck to transfer materials to and from warehouse. Complete daily forklift checklist.
- Maintain all raw material going to presses and ensure that they are identified and covered at all times.
- Determine the type and amount of resin, colorant and blowing agents needed for each machine based on the Process Sheets.
- Maintain material, colorant and blowing agents at presses and dryers to ensure that they never fall below minimum levels.
- Transport and/or checks dryers and mixers for proper operation, disassemble and connect them properly as required and ensure proper clean outs at production changes.
- Remove scrap/recycling/regrind material from production floor to the appropriate areas.
- Notify lead/supervisor of unresolved problems, including incorrect set ups.
What You Need to Be Successful:
- Mechanical skills/aptitude
- Ability to assemble/disassemble equipment correctly
- Ability to safely manipulate a forklift
- Ability to use a scan gun correctly
- Basic problem-solving skills
- Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs
