Responsibilities
- Safely operate box trucks, vans, or personal vehicles to deliver products directly to customer locations.
- Load and unload items using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, ensuring proper weight distribution and safe lifting practices.
- Execute precise route driving while adhering to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards to ensure timely deliveries.
- Provide courteous, professional customer service by assisting with product placement, setup, and answering any questions during delivery.
- Conduct thorough inspections of deliveries for damages or discrepancies; document and communicate issues promptly.
- Use mobile devices for route navigation, delivery confirmations, and real-time communication with dispatch or customer support teams.
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy lifting, manual handling, warehouse operations, and vehicle operation to promote a safe working environment.
Skills
- Proven experience in delivery driving, courier services, or warehouse operations involving material handling equipment operation.
- Strong knowledge of commercial driving practices with experience operating box trucks or vans; familiarity with manual transmission is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while adhering to safe lifting practices and weight handling guidelines.
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor that enhances the delivery experience.
- Knowledge of route planning, traffic regulations, DOT regulations, and safety standards for commercial truck driving.
- Experience in warehouse operations including load & unload procedures and moving heavy items using tools like pallet jacks.
- Competence in using mobile devices for communication and navigation during deliveries.
- Ability to handle physical demands such as standing for long periods, manual handling tasks, and moving items efficiently.
