The Auto Body / Body Prep Technician will be responsible for performing body repairs, prepping vehicles for paint and refinishing work. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and committed to producing high-quality results. Experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Inspect vehicles and assess required bodywork or prep tasks
- Repair, remove, straighten, or replace damaged panels and body components
- Sand, mask, prime, and prepare surfaces for paint or refinishing
- Apply fillers, smooth and shape panels, and prepare vehicles for final finishing
- Assist with disassembly and reassembly as needed
- Operate body shop tools, sanding equipment, and power tools safely
- Work with other technicians to coordinate workflow
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
- Handle hazardous materials properly and follow all safety procedures
- Document work performed and communicate effectively with management
Qualifications
- Previous experience in auto body repair, body prep, or refinishing
- Knowledge of sanding, masking, priming, and general bodywork techniques
- Ability to use common body shop tools and equipment (or willingness to learn)
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and handle physically demanding tasks
- Valid driver’s license required
