Seeking a Customs Classification Specialist responsible for researching, analyzing, and assigning accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) classifications for imported products, equipment, materials, components, and spare parts. This role ensures customs compliance, audit readiness, and accurate tariff determination by applying regulatory guidance and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed HTSUS classification research using General Rules of Interpretation (GRIs), CBP CROSS Rulings, Explanatory Notes, and customs regulations.
- Review technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, product literature, and supplier data, to determine proper classifications.
- Develop and maintain classification justifications and documentation to support customs audits and compliance reviews.
- Partner with Customs Operations, Regulatory Compliance, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Business Units to resolve classification issues.
- Manage classification requests, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Conduct classification quality reviews, data validation, and consistency checks across systems and processes.
- Support customs audits, binding ruling requests, tariff updates, classification revalidations, and process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with training, governance programs, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications:
- Experience with HTSUS classification, import compliance, and customs regulations.
- Strong knowledge of CBP regulations, GRIs, CROSS rulings, and tariff classification methodologies.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, product specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, procurement, supply chain, and compliance teams.
- Strong analytical, research, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
