Position Reports To: Compliance Manager
Essential Functions
- Performs forensic audits of clinical processes, documentation, billing and coding to ensure regulatory compliance and appropriate payment of services.
- Coordinates efforts with the Revenue Cycle department to identify root causes of payment denials and works with department leadership to resolve clinical, documentation, or workflow issues affecting billing.
- Assists in compliance investigations and provides consultative input as appropriate.
- Provide compliance education and training to new providers.
- Stays abreast of compliance developments in health care and its impact on the organization. Keeps department leadership aware of such changes.
- Completes focused regulatory compliance audits based on organizational need, department planning, and as indicated by external audit trends.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of healthcare experience.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) within one year of employment.
- Strong analytical and clear communication skills.
- Thorough research skills.
- Ability to interpret department policies and procedures and apply them in specific situations.
- Ability to develop partnerships, teamwork, and good working relationships.
- Understands the complexities of a large organization - involves others as appropriate.
- Healthcare regulatory experience.
- Knowledge of medical coding.
