About the Opportunity
A well-established domestic dealership in the Twin Cities, MN metro area is seeking a Used Car / Vehicle Manager to lead its pre-owned vehicle department. This is an excellent opportunity for a results-driven automotive professional to take ownership of a used vehicle operation with strong support, established processes, and room to grow. We are not looking for the sit behind the desk manager. Manager has to want to help sales people, train them, help close deals, work leads, etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the used vehicle department, including inventory acquisition, pricing, merchandising, and reconditioning
- Manage vehicle appraisals and trade-ins to maximize profitability
- Source inventory through trade-ins, auctions, and wholesale channels
- Set and monitor pricing strategy using market data and inventory management tools (e.g., vAuto, Dealertrack, CDK)
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of sales and support staff
- Partner with the sales team to drive volume, gross profit, and customer satisfaction
- Manage aging inventory and turn rates to optimize department profitability
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies and state/federal regulations
- Track and report on department KPIs, including turn rate, gross profit, and inventory levels
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in Retail Dealership Operations, including sales. Preferably some management experience
- Knowledge of managing inventory, pricing, and profitability in a used vehicle department
- Strong understanding of vehicle appraisal, market pricing, and reconditioning processes
- Experience with dealership inventory/pricing tools (vAuto, CDK, Dealertrack, or similar) preferred
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment
Compensation & Benefits
- $100,000–$150,000 per year, based on experience and performance (base commission/bonus structure)
