A growing, multi-entity organization is seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to join its finance leadership team. Purpose Of Your Position:
The Senior Accounting Manager will play a critical role in overseeing close, technical accounting, payroll accounting, and internal controls. This individual will partner closely with finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting, strong compliance, and continuous process improvements across the accounting organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Research and apply accounting guidance for complex transactions, policy updates, and new accounting standards
• Prepare and review accounting position papers and technical documentation supporting key accounting conclusions
• Oversee payroll accounting processes across a multi-state employee base, including reconciliations, accruals, and related journal entries
• Review balance sheet reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and drive resolution of outstanding items
• Support and strengthen internal controls, compliance procedures, and audit readiness efforts
• Assist with financial statement preparation and related disclosures for assigned accounting areas
• Serve as a key liaison for both internal and external audit teams during interim and year-end reviews
• Lead, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team while helping drive process improvements and scalability
• Partner cross-functionally with HR, FP&A, and operational teams to improve reporting accuracy and consistency
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred
• 8 years of progressive accounting experience with exposure to technical accounting and close management
• Strong experience supporting payroll accounting and multi-state payroll environments
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting research
• Prior experience preparing technical accounting documentation and supporting audits
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, compliance, and process improvement initiatives
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Salary : $140,000 - $160,000
