Sales / Mobile Hydraulic Hose Technician

About the Role

A growing fluid power company is seeking a motivated Sales / Mobile Hydraulic Hose Technician to establish and grow its business throughout the Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana market.

This is a combined technical service and business-development position. The successful candidate will operate a mobile service vehicle, provide on-site hydraulic hose assembly and repair services, actively develop new accounts, and build long-term customer relationships within the assigned territory.

This person must be comfortable prospecting for new business, making sales calls, visiting potential customers, and identifying opportunities with industrial, construction, transportation, manufacturing, and equipment-service companies.

The ideal candidate must know the Chicago metropolitan area and live within approximately a 60- to 90-minute drive of Schererville, Indiana. This position involves daily local travel and occasional out-of-state travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and grow the company’s customer base throughout the Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana area
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory
• Prospect for new customers through cold calling, in-person visits, networking, referrals, and follow-up
• Schedule and conduct sales visits with prospective and existing customers
• Introduce the company’s mobile hydraulic hose services and product capabilities to local businesses
• Develop relationships with industrial facilities, construction companies, trucking operations, equipment dealers, repair shops, and other potential customers
• Maintain consistent communication with prospective customers and follow up on sales leads
• Prepare quotes and recommend hydraulic products and services based on customer needs
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide regular updates on prospects, customer visits, and opportunities
• Meet established sales, customer-development, and territory-growth goals
• Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
• Operate a mobile service unit throughout the Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana area
• Navigate the Chicago area efficiently and respond promptly to customer service calls
• Build and assemble hydraulic hoses according to customer and design specifications
• Perform on-site hydraulic hose replacement and repair services
• Inspect and verify product quality throughout the assembly process
• Accurately read and measure using tape measures and calipers
• Perform fractional math and convert fractions to decimals
• Maintain accurate service, sales, and customer records
• Maintain a clean, organized, properly stocked, and safe mobile workspace
• Travel locally each day and occasionally out of state to support customer needs
• Work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of hydraulic hose assembly experience required
• Previous outside sales or business-development experience required
• Proven ability to prospect, develop new accounts, and grow a sales territory
• Experience selling hydraulic, industrial, automotive, mechanical, or technical products is strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of the Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana market
• Must live within approximately 60 to 90 minutes of Schererville, Indiana
• Mobile service or field service experience is strongly preferred
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently to build a new market
• Comfortable making cold calls and approaching prospective customers
• Strong customer service, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
• Results-oriented and able to meet sales and territory-development goals
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Must be at least 25 years old for insurance purposes
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods
• Comfortable working inside a mobile workshop
• Ability to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions

Experience

• Hydraulic hose assembly: One year required
• Outside sales or business development: Required

Work Location: On the road/Schererville

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
