Duties
- Assist licensed electricians with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting residential electrical systems in new construction and retrofit projects
- Learn to interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to support accurate wiring and system layouts
- Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment such as ohmmeters to perform measurements and ensure proper circuit functionality
- Follow electrical safety procedures and adhere to NFPA 70 (National Fire Protection Association code) standards to maintain a safe work environment
- Support the installation of low voltage systems, including alarms, data wiring, and lighting controls
- Participate in construction site activities such as framing carpentry and conduit installation under supervision
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, including inspection logs and compliance documentation
Skills
- Prior experience or familiarity with industrial or commercial electrician work is a plus but not required; eagerness to learn is essential
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams accurately
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) standards and electrical safety procedures
- Proficiency with hand tools (wire strippers, screwdrivers), power tools (drills, saws), and testing instruments like ohmmeters
- Understanding of low voltage wiring systems and high voltage safety practices
- Construction site experience including framing carpentry enhances your ability to adapt quickly on job sites
