What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Agent position at Confidential?
Company Overview
Premier design firm with over 25 years’ experience in the Naples market. We are a premium design-build remodeling firm specializing in high-end residential renovations, kitchen and bath transformations, whole-home remodels, and custom design solutions. We combine thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and a consultative sales process to deliver projects that elevate how our clients live. As we grow, we are building a best-in-class team focused on creating outstanding client experiences and high-quality outcomes.
Position Summary
This is our first dedicated purchasing position, and it is a chance to build the function, not just run it. You’ll own every material order from signed selections to delivery at the job site. On a luxury remodel, one late cabinet shipment or wrong finish can stall a project. Your job is to make sure the right product arrives complete, undamaged, on time and at the price we estimated.
Key Responsibilities
- Turn approved design selections and specifications into accurate purchase orders for cabinetry, countertops, tile, plumbing fixtures, appliances, lighting, hardware, and impact windows and doors.
- Check every order against drawings, finish schedules and field measurements before it goes out.
- Track lead times, expedite orders, and keep project managers informed every week.
- Negotiate pricing, freight and terms, and track cost against each project’s estimate.
- Manage relationships with our custom cabinet lines, distributors, fabricators and showrooms.
- Schedule deliveries around condo and community rules, and coordinate receiving, inspection and returns.
- Keep orders and delivery dates current in Houzz Pro.
- Write the purchasing procedures and checklists our team will use as we grow.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 3 years of purchasing experience in residential remodeling, custom homebuilding, kitchen and bath, cabinetry, or building-materials distribution.
- Ability to read construction drawings, cabinet shop drawings and finish schedules.
- Hands-on experience ordering custom or semi-custom cabinetry.
- A track record of negotiating real results with suppliers.
- Strong attention to detail and a habit of catching problems before they reach the job site.
- Comfort with spreadsheets and construction management or purchasing software.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to visit job sites and supplier showrooms.
