The Role
The Project Controls Specialist will sit within the Project Business Office and play a key role in supporting financial and performance tracking across a large-scale, multi-year project. This position will partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders and requires both analytical rigor and strong communication skills.This individual will be responsible for managing cost reporting, forecasting, and project performance analysis, while helping maintain the integrity of project financial data and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain tools to integrate cost, schedule, and performance data
- Create and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and project status reports
- Support development and maintenance of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
- Track budgets, expenses, and cost forecasts across project phases
- Perform variance analysis and partner with stakeholders to address discrepancies
- Maintain financial records and validate accounting data within project systems
- Support workforce planning, resource tracking, and reporting
- Assist with audit preparation and documentation
- Contribute to project reviews and performance reporting, including Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Partner with internal teams to provide insights and recommendations on project performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or related field
- 3 years of experience in project controls, financial analysis, or cost accounting
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and data visualization
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Experience with resource planning, forecasting, and reporting
- Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with both technical and business teams
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with project management or scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6)
- Familiarity with advanced analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, VBA, Access)
- Exposure to cost accounting and financial systems
- Background in aerospace, space, or scientific research environments
- Advanced degree in a related field
Compensation & Benefits
