The Product Certification & Compliance Manager leads all activities related to domestic and international 3rd-party product certifications across relevant product lines. This role ensures that all products meet applicable regulatory, safety, and performance standards while driving continuous improvement in certification processes and compliance readiness.
The manager oversees the regulatory compliance team, coordinates cross‑functional certification needs, and serves as the primary liaison with external certification agencies. This position plays a critical role in supporting new product development, product changes, and ongoing compliance for existing product lines.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and manage the product certification and compliance team, ensuring effective execution of certification and compliance activities.
- Assign incoming requests from multiple departments to the appropriate team members.
- Collaborate with team members to support project resolution, remove obstacles, and ensure timely completion of certification tasks.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying process enhancements and implementing new workflows or tools.
Product Certification Oversight
- Oversee all domestic and international 3rd party product certifications, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Coordinate ongoing compliance activities for all certified products, including renewals, audits, and surveillance testing.
- Manage relationships with certification agencies such as UL, ETL, CSA, AHRI, IAPMO, NSF, and others relevant to HVAC, plumbing, and chemical products.
- Review and approve certification‑related documentation, including labels, literature, catalogs, etc.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Support New Product Development by managing certification requirements, timelines, and agency submissions for new products.
- Process and/or assign certification‑related requests from Sales, Technical Services, Quality Control, Supply Chain, and other internal stakeholders.
- Partner with Engineering to support raw material changes, product improvements, and product modifications requiring agency review or recertification.
- Regularly communicate certification project milestones, progress, and timelines to the requester and relevant internal teams.
Compliance Management
- Maintain a clear understanding of all product certification compliance obligations, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Ensure accurate, organized, and audit‑ready records for all certifications and compliance activities.
- Monitor regulatory changes affecting HVAC, plumbing, and chemical products and communicate impacts to leadership and engineering teams.
- Ensure proper use of certification marks on product labels, packaging, and marketing materials.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Lead initiatives to streamline certification workflows, reduce cycle times, and improve cross‑departmental communication.
- Develop and maintain internal procedures, guidelines, and best practices for certification and compliance activities.
- Support miscellaneous duties as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the product certification and other regulatory compliance functions.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with 3rd party product certification processes for HVAC products
- Strong understanding of UL and Intertek certification compliance obligations, procedures, and regulatory frameworks
- Experience managing a team and time-sensitive projects
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all departments and organizational levels
- Up to 15% travel for meetings, training, and occasional site visits
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with plumbing, chemical, or mechanical product certifications.
- Experience with other 3rd-party certification agencies, such as CSA, IAPMO, NSF, ICC, etc.
- Familiarity with quality systems, regulatory documentation, and technical product data.
