Overview
We are seeking an experienced, crypto-savvy Managing Director to serve as the Canada Resident Director and lead our crypto payments business in Canada.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the Canadian regulated cryptoasset and payments business, including obligations under FINTRAC’s Money Services Business (MSB) regime and applicable Canadian securities and financial services regulations.
The ideal candidate will be Canada-based, with prior experience in crypto or payments, strong familiarity with the Canadian regulatory landscape, and established relationships within the financial services and compliance ecosystem.
This role is critical to supporting licensing, regulatory onboarding, and ongoing compliance for the Canada business, working closely with AML, Compliance, and Group functions to ensure full regulatory alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Canada Resident Director and senior executive responsible for the Canadian regulated crypto payments business
- Lead Canada market strategy across crypto assets and payments products, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and risk appetite
- Oversee and support FINTRAC MSB registration and ongoing compliance obligations
- Support any applicable securities registration or regulatory approvals under Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) frameworks where required
- Build and maintain strong relationships with FINTRAC, provincial regulators, policymakers, and industry stakeholders
- Drive business development across crypto, payments, fintech, and institutional financial services in Canada
- Represent the company as senior Canadian executive at industry events, regulatory meetings, and strategic partner discussions
- Collaborate closely with global Compliance, Legal, Product, Operations, and Risk teams to ensure regulatory alignment and governance consistency
- Act as the key interface between Canadian operations and group-level governance
- Lead overall Canada strategy and growth for crypto payment products
Requirements
- Proven experience supporting Canadian regulatory frameworks, including FINTRAC MSB registration and/or securities regulatory processes (CSA/IIROC or successor bodies)
- Must currently reside in Canada with valid right to work
- Prior experience in crypto, digital assets, payments, or regulated financial services is essential
- 7 years of experience in crypto payments, payment institutions, fintech, or related financial services
- Strong understanding of the Canadian regulatory environment, including FINTRAC requirements, AML/ATF obligations, and securities regulatory considerations for cryptoasset businesses
- Demonstrated experience in licensing, regulatory onboarding, or compliance program implementation in Canada or comparable jurisdictions
- Strong business development experience with ability to build institutional partnerships and scale commercial operations
- Strong professional network within Canadian financial services, fintech, and regulatory ecosystem
- Strong leadership presence, entrepreneurial mindset, and ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth, regulated environment
