JOB SUMMARY
Under the immediate supervision of the Shipping or Logistics Supervisor, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating outbound shipping, inter-plant logistics, and driver scheduling within a dynamic steel fabrication environment. This hands-on position involves operating forklifts and yard trucks, managing documentation, optimizing logistics processes, and collaborating across multiple departments to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient product movement. The role requires a balance of operational skill, administrative accuracy, and analytical insight to support plant-wide shipping performance.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or GED required.
· 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing, shipping, logistics, or related fields.
· Proven experience operating multidirectional or combilift forklifts (certification preferred).
· Valid driver’s license with a clean record; prior yard dog/spotter truck experience required.
· Experience creating Bills of Lading (BOLs), invoices, and other shipping documentation.
· ERP or Transportation Management System (TMS) software experience preferred.
· Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
· Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, physical exam, audiogram, and vision test.
Preferred:
· Bilingual – Spanish/English (read, write, speak).
· OSHA safety training and forklift certification.
· Experience performing strategic logistics analysis and interpreting operational trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and data reporting).
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
· Familiarity with ERP and logistics systems for inventory tracking and shipment coordination.
· Strong understanding of load securement, material handling, and multi-plant routing processes.
· Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal abilities.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
· Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
· Reliable, organized, and self-motivated with strong attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Operate multidirectional forklifts to safely load and unload long steel products (plates, beams, pipe).· Use yard dog/spotter truck to position trailers and organize yard storage efficiently.· Prepare accurate Bills of Lading (BOLs), invoices, and purchase orders.· Verify weights, counts, heat numbers, and shipment conditions before release.· Schedule internal drivers for inter-shop transfers and external carriers for outbound loads.· Manage multi-plant logistics, track shipments, and resolve routing or scheduling conflicts.· Maintain work orders, shipping reports, and performance dashboards· Inspect loading operations for compliance with customer and safety specifications.· Calculate estimated shipping and delivery costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize labor/equipment usage to reduce downtime and overtime.· Conduct regular cycle counts of finished and semi-finished goods.· Ensure shipping priorities, staging, and yard organization are accurate and up to date.· Communicate with production, trucking companies, suppliers, and other plants to meet delivery schedules.· Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and load securement standards.· Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.· Support continuous improvement projects and perform other related tasks as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This job operates in a professional office environment, in addition to, spending time in the fabrication plant. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, phone, etc.

Weekly Pay. Day Shift Hours - Monday thru Friday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM, including some weekends based on operational necessity. EOE. Not a Remote Position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
