Our client, a major bank, is looking to hire a Financial Reporting Specialist in Hackensack, NJ. Please note the client may be open to candidates in Lower NYC and Edison, NJ.
Pay Rate Range: 62-67/hr W2
Responsibilities:
Supervises a team of administrators responsible for providing accounting, administration, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, and investor servicing to investment companies and advisers. Serves as a trusted advisor to clients by continually assessing changing business needs and strategies, providing expertise, tools, and information to support investment growth.
Acts as the primary escalation point for assigned clients and directs issue resolution and process improvements to support client needs. Proactively identifies risk-related issues through the review of qualitative and quantitative data, anticipates obstacles, and implements mitigating solutions.
Job Description
- Supervise a team of administrators providing accounting, administration, financial reporting, and regulatory reporting services to investment companies, including hedge funds, private equity funds, CLOs, and other alternative investment vehicles.
- Provide accounting and administration support to investment advisers and institutional clients.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for assigned clients and lead resolution of complex accounting, reporting, and operational issues.
- Develop strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor by understanding changing business strategies and requirements.
- Review accounting and financial statement information prepared for audit and tax reviews.
- Assist with the documentation and setup of accounting principles for unusual and complex investment types.
- Oversee the setup and processing of complex expense calculations, incentive fee calculations, and reconciliation items.
- Review qualitative and quantitative data to proactively identify operational and financial risks.
- Anticipate potential obstacles and implement appropriate mitigating solutions.
- Support process improvements and changes designed to enhance client service, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial and regulatory reporting.
Requirements:
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5–7 years of experience in the alternative investments industry, either at a fund, fund administrator, or Big Four/midsize public accounting firm performing fund audits.
- Strong understanding of portfolio accounting and the investment management industry.
Preferred Skills / Experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Thorough knowledge of Advent applications preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the Confluence financial reporting platform preferred.
- Experience with hedge funds, private equity, CLOs, or other alternative investments.
- Strong understanding of portfolio accounting and investment management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven team leadership, organizational, and client management skills.
- CPA preferred.
