A manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Controller to serve as a key financial partner to the President and leadership team. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, ensuring strong financial controls, and providing financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making.
The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations while supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This role plays an important part in maintaining financial discipline, supporting growth initiatives, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a financial advisor to the President and leadership team on operational and financial matters.
- Oversee all accounting operations, including internal controls, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, forecasting, SOX controls, and audit support.
- Lead and manage the budgeting process and support financial analysis and forecasting activities.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast and provide insights and recommendations to improve results.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and filings while adhering to GAAP standards.
- Support ERP system enhancements and process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and scalability.
- Maintain scalable accounting processes with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
- Develop, supervise, and evaluate accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
- Safeguard company assets and support overall operational effectiveness.
- Partner with Human Resources and leadership on compensation and benefit-related financial support as needed.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Progressive accounting experience up to a Controller or equivalent role strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership, analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to support change initiatives and effectively partner with leadership.
- Solid technical accounting expertise combined with a process-oriented mindset.
- Experience supporting growth or operational change in a dynamic business environment.
- Proven ability to develop and lead teams in a collaborative setting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and experience working within ERP systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- MBA preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification a plus.
