What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health and Safety Specialist position at Confidential?
This is an onsite, hands -on position within a manufacturing environment. The EH&S Specialist will work directly with employees and must be physically present at the facility to effectively support safety, environmental and health initiatives.
Salary is commensurate with experience, education and overall qualifications.
The job will be part time to start and could evolve into a full time position.
PRIMARY JOB DESCRIPTION, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement, monitor and enforce EH&S policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits and risk assessments across the facility.
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Facilitate safety training programs, including new hire orientation and ongoing employee education.
- Maintain and update EH&S documentation, records and reports.
- Partner with supervisors and employees to promote safe work practices and hazard awareness.
- Ensure proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Monitor environmental compliance, including air, water and waste management programs.
- Support emergency preparedness and response initiative, including drills and evacuation procedures.
- Track and report safety metrics, KPIs and regulatory compliance data.
- Plan biannual vision and hearing screenings.
- Direct company safety and first aid teams.
- At all times, work to Company Code of Ethics, Safety Standards and Quality Policies while performing operational functions.
- Must pass physical examination and drug test.
- Background check is also performed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or a high school diploma with at least 5 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with employees on all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EH&S management systems.
- Attention to detail is a must.
