My client, an established automotive manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its Engineering and Tooling functions. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for managing engineers and technical personnel while supporting tooling, stamping processes, equipment, new product launches, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and manage Engineering and Tooling personnel.
- Provide technical leadership for tooling, stamping processes, equipment, and manufacturing improvements.
- Lead new product launches and support APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, capability studies, and production readiness.
- Partner with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and suppliers to resolve tooling, equipment, quality, downtime, scrap, and process issues.
- Manage engineering projects, equipment/tooling suppliers, budgets, installations, and validations.
- Support engineering changes, process documentation, layouts, routings, BOMs, and manufacturing specifications.
- Drive root-cause analysis, corrective actions, process improvement, and productivity initiatives.
- Support customer and supplier technical requirements and automotive quality standards.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of progressive engineering, quality, manufacturing, tooling, or technical leadership experience.
- Proven experience managing engineers, tooling personnel, or technical teams.
- Automotive or Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with metal stamping, tooling, process development, or precision manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and structured problem solving.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949 and automotive customer requirements.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Engineering/technical degree, journeyman toolmaker background, or equivalent experience.
