Job Summary: The Solar Electrical Apprentice supports licensed electricians and solar installation teams in the installation, maintenance and report of photovoltaic (PV) solar energy systems. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience and technical training while ensuring work is performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with electrical codes and company standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Assist licensed electricians with the installation of commercial solar PV systems.
· Support electrical wiring tasks including conduit bending, cable pulling, grounding and termination.
· Help install inverts, junction boxes, disconnects and related electrical components.
· Perform basic troubleshooting and system checks under supervision.
· Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
· Read and interpret basic electrical drawings, schematics, and installation plans.
· Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean organized job site.
· Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress and issues.
· Attend required training coursework and apprenticeship-related instruction.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Basic understanding of electrical concepts and hand tools.
· Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
· Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Education and Experience
· High School diploma or GED.
· Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a registered electrical apprenticeship program.
· Prior experience in construction, electrical work, or solar installation.
· Completion of basic electrical coursework or pre-apprenticeship training.
· OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
· Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to left up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to work at heights, including ladders and rooftops.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Capability to stand, bend, kneel and climb for extended periods.
Work Environment:
This position involves work at construction sites and customer locations. The environment may include exposure to electrical hazards, weather conditions and working at elevated heights, with required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
