Director of Nursing in Providence Area Skilled Nursing Facility
Requirements:
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a RN in RI
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel and the general public
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise others
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, & interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., necessary for providing quality care
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as a willingness to handle difficult situations
- Must be willing to seek out new methods and principals and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices
- Must be able to relate information concerning the resident’s condition
Job Functions:
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the day-to-day functions of the nursing service department, in accordance with the current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern this long term care facility.
- Participates in developing, maintaining, and updating the written policies and procedures of the facility.
- Plans, organizes, develops, and directs programs to assure the highest level of quality care.
- Makes written and/or oral reports/recommendations to the NHA concerning the operation of the department and /or its programs
- Develops methods for coordinating nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the resident’s total regimen of care.
- Prevents and /or reports resident abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and/or misappropriation.
- Participates with facility surveys as required.
- Performs administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, investigations, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
- Serves on, participates in, and attends committees of the facility.
- Prepares written and/or oral reports to such committees or to regulatory agencies as required
- Develops, maintains, implements and updates facility policies and procedures.
- Determines staffing needs of the nursing department
- Performs evaluations as directed
- Reviews complaints and grievances made or filed by department personnel or others and reports to the NHA.
- Ensures that departmental disciplinary procedures are administered fairly , in accordance with facility policy
- Makes daily rounds to ensure that all nursing personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards.
- Develops, plans, conducts, schedules and documents in-service classes that ensure a well educated nursing service department.
- Attends and participates in training and in-service programs as required.
- Ensures that all department personnel are aware of and follow the safety regulations
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $110,000.00 per year
