Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership for nursing staff, including nurse management and supervising personnel, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations such as Medicare and HIPAA.
- Manage staffing schedules across shifts to ensure optimal coverage while maintaining high standards of resident safety and care quality.
- Supervise the documentation review process for medical records, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to legal requirements using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Lead efforts in regulatory compliance related to nursing home operations, including MDS (Minimum Data Set) assessments, Medicare requirements, and documentation standards.
- Facilitate ongoing training on medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, HIPAA regulations, and medical records management to maintain staff competency.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate services such as hospice care, home health visits, and acute care interventions that meet residents’ evolving needs.
- Ensure all nursing activities align with best practices in assisted living and home care environments while promoting resident dignity and comfort.
Experience
- Current unencumbered RN license
- Extensive background in assisted living facilities or similar long-term care environments; experience in hospice care or home health is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and documentation review processes within healthcare settings.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR systems used for managing medical records efficiently while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Supervising experience with a focus on shift management, staff development, and nurse management strategies that foster team cohesion.
- Hands-on experience with Medicare regulations and familiarity with MDS assessments to support reimbursement processes.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively while managing complex resident cases involving care plans tailored to individual needs.
