Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Laboratory Operations to lead our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for scientific excellence and operational efficiency. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, drive continuous quality improvement, and ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal healthcare and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct the overall day-to-day operations of the Clinical Laboratory.
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of laboratory activities across multiple departments to ensure seamless operations and high-quality results.
- Manage departmental resources, including staffing, scheduling, inventory, equipment procurement, and maintenance.
- Formulate and manage the annual capital and operating budgets, ensuring cost containment and meeting productivity standards.
- Oversee all testing systems—managing the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of diagnostic testing to ensure accuracy and promptness.
- Ensure laboratory operations comply with all relevant accrediting and regulatory bodies (e.g., CLIA, and State).
- Maintain appropriate physical and environmental conditions, ensuring the lab remains safe from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
- Prepare and manage documentation for state certification inspections and develop corrective action plans for any deficiencies.
- Employ and supervise qualified, competent personnel capable of performing test procedures and recording results accurately.
- Provide leadership in staff orientation, competency training, mentoring, and continuing education.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Establish performance metrics, evaluate outcomes, and champion continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
- Implement and oversee robust quality control and safety protocols.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management or Clinical Laboratory Science, or related biological/chemical science.
- Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of clinical laboratory experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
- Skills: Strong working knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS), financial management, and applicable healthcare regulatory standards. Exceptional problem-solving, team-building, and communication skills.
Pay: $105,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
