The Director of Dining Services is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of dining operations within a senior living community. This role ensures high-quality food service, regulatory compliance, resident satisfaction, financial performance, and team leadership while promoting hospitality-driven service.
Key Responsibilities1. Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise culinary and dining staff.
- Foster a culture of hospitality, respect, and resident-centered service.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and manage scheduling.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and workplace safety standards.
2. Culinary & Service Excellence
- Oversee menu planning, recipe development, and food presentation.
- Ensure meals meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate special dietary needs.
- Maintain consistent quality, flavor, and visual appeal of food offerings.
- Lead special dining events, themed meals, and holiday celebrations.
- Monitor resident satisfaction and implement service improvements.
3. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health department and food safety standards.
- Maintain sanitation standards in accordance with ServSafe and HACCP guidelines.
- Oversee proper documentation for inspections and audits.
4. Financial Management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Control food, labor, and supply costs.
- Negotiate with vendors and manage purchasing/inventory systems.
- Analyze financial reports and implement cost-control strategies.
5. Resident & Family Engagement
- Participate in resident council meetings.
- Address concerns related to food quality and service.
- Build strong relationships with residents and families.
- Promote hospitality and enhance the dining experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Nutrition, or related field (preferred).
- 3–5 years of leadership experience in senior living, healthcare, hotel, or restaurant dining services.
- Knowledge of dietary regulations (including therapeutic diets).
- ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Strong financial acumen and budgeting experience.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
