Position Summary
The Business Development Director is a key member of the executive leadership team and the architect of our enterprise growth strategy. This role oversees business development, capture, marketing, and proposal operations, managing both internal staff and external partners. They drive near-term expansion in VA and DoD engineering services while shaping long-term growth into healthcare, higher education, and other federal markets.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Leadership
- Develop and execute the company-wide growth strategy and annual BD plan, with emphasis on VA and DoD engineering opportunities.
- Partner with the CEO, COO, and CFO to align growth initiatives with financial and operational priorities.
- Influence corporate strategy, capability development, and market expansion.
Business Development & Capture
- Lead federal A/E capture efforts, including pipeline development, client engagement, teaming, and competitive positioning.
- Oversee proposal development, ensuring compliance with SF330, FAR, and federal procurement standards.
- Strengthen BD processes, tools, and KPIs to support scalable growth.
Marketing & External Positioning
- Direct marketing strategy, brand positioning, and outreach efforts.
- Manage internal BD/marketing staff and external freelancers/partners.
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 12 years of BD or capture experience in federal A/E, engineering, or facility asset management.
- Demonstrated success with awarded VA/DoD engineering, planning, or design contracts.
- Strong knowledge of SF330, FAR, IDIQs, and federal A/E selection processes.
- Proven leadership experience managing BD, capture, or proposal teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Ability to translate market intelligence into actionable growth strategies.
- Willingness to travel for client engagement and industry events. Up to 50% of travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep expertise in VA/DoD engineering, facility planning, or asset management.
- Experience with strategic partnerships, JVs, and subcontracting strategies.
- Familiarity with GovWin, federal CRMs, and A/E federal procurement platforms.
- Established network within federal A/E communities.
