NYC FERRY DECKHANDS (Brooklyn, NY 11205)
Starting Pay: $20.28/hr. (Full-Time)
Job Duties
- Handle mooring lines to dock or undock the vessel.
- Assist with water filling, bunkering fuel, unloading sewage, and connecting/disconnecting shore power.
- Perform lookout duties while underway and monitor waterway safety.
- Assist passengers during boarding and disembarking, including ticket collection.
- Perform cleaning, custodial tasks, and minor maintenance or engineering repairs as directed.
- Participate in meetings, training, drills, and safety audits per USCG and company policy.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Monitor passenger and crew safety issues and enforce proper use of safety equipment.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials according to MSDS guidelines.
- Respond quickly to emergencies and work in various weather conditions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Valid TWIC Card (or ability to obtain and maintain).
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification (or ability to obtain and maintain).
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and in all weather conditions.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Previous marine or watch-standing experience preferred.
