The Continuous Improvement Lead will lead the execution of a multi-phase manufacturing transformation for the Torrance, CA facility, guiding the transition from heavy fabrication to light assembly. This role is responsible for shaping the site’s future-state operating model and driving operational changes that support long-term efficiency, scalability, and cost optimization.
Salary Range : $110-130K / year
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational transition from heavy fabrication to a focus on light assembly through workforce skill and resourcing model redesign and layout, material flow, and work cell configuration.
- Develop value stream mapping (stock to Assembly operations) to propose phased improvements to floor layout considering subassembly outsourcing.
- Identify and execute near-term improvements that reduce complexity, waste and overhead.
- Develop equipment and tooling plan to support a new layout and improved productivity.
- Design and implement interim operating models that support production continuity while longer-term systems are developed.
- Apply Lean manufacturing systems principles to support transformation objectives.
- Establish performance baselines and track progress using operational metrics tied to business outcomes.
- Evaluate and improve space utilization, indirect labor models and operational support structures.
- Responsible for work cell decommissioning and continuous improvement.
Background and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, or operations transformation roles
- Demonstrated experience executing plant-level operational transitions, such as: Fabrication to assembly shifts, changes in manufacturing mix or capability, or cost structure overhead reduction initiatives
- Hands-on application of Lean manufacturing principles in a production environment
- Ability to translate operational changes into financial and capacity implications
- Experience in multi-product or mixed-mode manufacturing environments preferred
- Background in both engineered and repeatable assembly operations preferred
- Experience working in evolving operating models preferred
