A well-established commercial printing and publishing operation in the Midwest is seeking an experienced Commercial Web Press Operator to join our pressroom team. This is a hands-on production role responsible for operating and maintaining multi-unit, web-fed rotary printing presses used to produce newspapers, books, magazines, and other commercial print products.
We are looking for a dependable, mechanically skilled professional with prior web press experience who takes pride in print quality, efficiency, safety, and equipment performance.
Relocation assistance may be considered for qualified candidates due to the onsite nature of this position.
Job Responsibilities
- Make ready and operate multi-unit, web-fed rotary printing presses according to written production specifications
- Operate press equipment from a centralized control console
- Lock printing plates onto cylinders and thread paper supply rolls through rollers, former boards, and folders
- Adjust compensators, guides, brakes, and tension controls to maintain proper web alignment and press performance
- Monitor and control color registration, ink distribution, cut-off, folding, and overall print quality throughout production runs
- Inspect printed products during production and make necessary mechanical and color adjustments to maintain quality standards
- Troubleshoot press issues including web breaks, registration problems, tension inconsistencies, and mechanical malfunctions
- Re-thread paper following web breaks and readjust rollers and controls as needed
- Replace printing plates during make-readies and production changes
- Replace cutting blades, blankets, ink rollers, and other worn or damaged press components
- Fill ink wells and monitor ink flow and coverage during production
- Perform routine maintenance including cleaning, inspection, and lubrication of press equipment
- Conduct safety checks and maintain safe operating procedures at all times
- Load and install large paper rolls during press runs
- Assist in training and mentoring less experienced pressroom personnel
- Maintain accurate production standards while minimizing downtime and waste
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating commercial web-fed rotary printing presses required
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Experience with color registration and print quality control
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
- Knowledge of press maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures
- Forklift experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
Physical Requirements
This position requires working in a manufacturing and production environment and may include:

Pay: $24.25 - $29.21 per hour
