We are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our financial operations. In this role, you will manage daily accounting functions, maintain compliance with GAAP standards, and deliver critical reporting on store-level performance, inventory valuation, and cash flow to support our growth. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will lead our accounting team and ensure our financial practices align with the fast-paced nature of the retail sector.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and analyze accurate monthly financial statements, including store-level P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
- Analyze revenue, sales trends, and expenditure variances to support executive decision-making.
- Provide accurate tax reporting and ensure compliance with state and federal retail tax regulations, including sales and use tax.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Oversee inventory accounting, including stock valuation, shrink tracking, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) analysis.
- Reconcile point-of-sale (POS) systems, merchant services, and credit card processing platforms with general ledger entries.
Operational & Team Leadership
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the accounting department, including Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), and staff accountants.
- Maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Coordinate annual audits, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax professionals.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or actively pursuing certification is strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting ERP software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, or Microsoft Dynamics GP).
- Retail Knowledge: Deep understanding of retail metrics (e.g., inventory turnover, shrink, gross margin) and point-of-sale reconciliations.
