Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Commercial Construction Project Engineer to support the successful planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of commercial construction processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, and other project documents.
- Assist with the preparation, processing, and tracking of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate submittals with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Maintain accurate project logs, including RFIs, submittals, procurement, change orders, and potential issues.
- Track long-lead materials and communicate potential procurement or delivery issues to the project team.
- Assist with project cost tracking, forecasting, and change management.
- Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action-item logs.
- Review shop drawings and submittals for completeness and coordinate technical reviews with the appropriate project team members.
- Assist with quality control and ensure project documentation supports compliance with plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Help maintain project records, correspondence, drawings, specifications, and closeout documentation.
- Assist with punch-list tracking, commissioning, turnover, and project closeout.
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of commercial construction, engineering, or project coordination experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred. Practical field experience may also be considered.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, terminology, and project documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with construction scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is a plus.
- Ability to travel to and work from active construction sites is required.
