Senior Internal Auditor
Commercial Real Estate Finance | Hybrid NYC
A leading national commercial real estate finance company is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join its Internal Audit team. The firm is a major lender in the multifamily and healthcare real estate sectors and consistently ranks among the top lenders nationally across several agency lending programs.
This role will report to the Director of Internal Audit and will play a key part in evaluating financial, operational, and compliance processes across the organization. The team partners closely with business leaders to strengthen internal controls, improve operational efficiency, and support risk management across the platform.
Responsibilities
- Execute financial, operational, and compliance audits across the organization
- Document and evaluate business processes and internal controls
- Prepare audit workpapers and supporting documentation in accordance with professional standards
- Identify control weaknesses, determine root causes, and recommend practical solutions
- Present audit findings and recommendations to management through written reports and presentations
- Track and follow up on remediation efforts related to audit findings
- Partner with business teams to review new and existing processes and recommend improvements
- Support initiatives focused on improving operational efficiency and strengthening controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3 years of audit experience, ideally within financial services
- Exposure to lending, servicing, or financial services operations is a plus
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CFA preferred
- Understanding of manual and automated internal controls
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader Office suite
Comp: 100-125k base bonus (commensurate with experience)
Salary : $100,000 - $140,000
