Position Summary:
The Process Engineer plays a critical role in supporting a high-performing manufacturing environment by driving technical problem-solving, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and improving injection molding and assembly processes while ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost targets are achieved.
The Process Engineer leverages data-driven decision-making and scientific molding methodologies to enhance manufacturing performance, support new program launches, and contribute to overall operational excellence.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support technical problem-solving efforts related to manufacturing processes and equipment
- Develop, optimize, and document robust injection molding and assembly processes
- Troubleshoot production issues directly on the floor and implement corrective actions
- Conduct DOE (Design of Experiments), validation activities, and capability studies
- Analyze process data to drive continuous improvement and reduce scrap
- Ensure all process documentation, work instructions, and reports are completed accurately and on time
- Support new tool launches, engineering changes, and sampling activities within required timelines
- Collaborate with tooling, quality, and program management teams to ensure successful project execution
- Utilize automation (e.g., robotics, pickers) to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance
- Participate in customer visits and support mold trials as needed
Leadership & Development
- Train and mentor Process Technicians to develop advanced technical capabilities
- Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
- Promote best practices in scientific molding (e.g., RJG methodology) and standardized processes
Key Accountabilities
- Achieve or exceed cost targets related to setup time and cycle efficiency
- Meet established timelines for sampling and production readiness
- Maintain accurate and timely process documentation
- Reduce scrap and improve process capability on challenging programs
- Support preventative maintenance strategies for critical equipment

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Work performed in a manufacturing environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
- Ability to work both on the production floor and at a computer workstation
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role
- Experience in injection molding or plastics manufacturing strongly preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of scientific molding principles (RJG experience preferred)
- Experience with DOE, process validation, and statistical analysis
- Ability to interpret mold flow data and apply insights to process improvements
- Familiarity with automation systems and manufacturing equipment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
