Distribution Operations Supervisor (2nd Shift)

A leading distribution and supply chain organization is seeking an experienced Distribution Operations Supervisor to oversee warehouse operations and drive performance across key functional areas. This role is responsible for leading teams, optimizing productivity, maintaining service levels, ensuring safety compliance, and fostering a positive, high-performing work environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational experience, a passion for developing people, and a proven ability to improve warehouse efficiency through data-driven decision making.

Position Summary

The Distribution Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising warehouse personnel and ensuring all operational activities are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. This position oversees day-to-day distribution center operations, monitors productivity, manages staffing and resource allocation, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to achieve performance goals.

The supervisor will also play a key role in employee development, engagement, and retention by promoting a collaborative and positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor departmental and employee performance, utilizing labor management tools and operational metrics to maximize productivity.
• Plan and allocate personnel, equipment, and resources to ensure efficient material flow throughout the distribution center.
• Support the development and execution of daily, weekly, and annual operational and financial plans.
• Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and motivate team members.
• Provide employees with the tools, resources, and guidance necessary to achieve operational objectives.
• Ensure the timely, accurate, and damage-free movement of inventory and merchandise.
• Maintain a safe work environment and enforce safety procedures, policies, and best practices.
• Monitor housekeeping standards and ensure cleanliness initiatives are completed on schedule.
• Analyze operational data to identify trends, solve problems, and improve performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership and support teams to drive operational excellence.
• Participate in continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Directly supervise and develop a team of warehouse employees.
• Establish performance expectations and accountability standards.
• Conduct coaching, training, and performance management activities.
• Foster employee engagement and maintain strong team morale.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 6 years of progressive warehouse, distribution, logistics, or operations leadership experience with a degree, or 7 years without a degree.
• Experience leading teams within a distribution center, warehouse, manufacturing, or high-volume operations environment.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret operational data and performance metrics.
• Experience utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Labor Management Systems (LMS), RF technology, and related operational systems.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business applications.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules as operational needs require.

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.
• Experience operating material handling equipment, including forklifts.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Ability to work 2nd shift hours which can vary but are typically between 2pm-12pm, Mon - Fri.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical activities throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and exposure to equipment and machinery.
• May be exposed to noise, dust, moving mechanical parts, and other typical distribution center conditions.
• Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment as required.
