Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments
- Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and assisting the dental receptionist with front desk duties
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation
- Familiarity with dental imaging techniques including X-ray procedures and 3D scanner technology for advanced diagnostics
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in four-handed dentistry setups to enhance workflow productivity
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices for accurate recordkeeping
- Experience working with pediatric patients and understanding pediatric dentistry best practices is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and team members
