Starting Wage Range: $29.76/hr. - $38.39/hr.

Job Summary:

The Financial Wellness Coordinator provides culturally relevant financial coaching, mentorship, and education to Tribal members—from youth to elders—to support financial empowerment, wellness, and long-term stability. This position delivers one-on-one and group financial coaching, develops and oversees educational programming (including Minors Trust Fund accounts), and connects Tribal members with appropriate resources to build financial literacy, reduce debt, and support generational wealth. Through community partnerships and collaboration with Tribal programs, this role strengthens economic resilience while honoring the values and traditions of the Grand Ronde community. This is a limited duration grant funded position.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement a culturally tailored financial literacy program that supports Tribal members at all life stages, including youth, adults, and elders.
  • Conduct one-on-one, couple, and small-group financial coaching sessions to assess needs and develop personalized financial action plans.
  • Oversee and provide financial education related to Minor's Trust Fund accounts, supporting youth and families in understanding and managing distributions.
  • Teach classes and/or workshops and deliver presentations on financial topics such as budgeting, credit building, saving, debt management, and homeownership.
  • Facilitate enrollment and participation in the Oregon Individual Development Account (IDA) programs
  • Partner with financial education organizations such as DevNW, ONAC, other Tribes and local credit unions to strengthen service offerings.
  • Provide in-home or virtual financial mentoring as needed, supporting Tribal members in budgeting, debt management, and achieving their financial goals.
  • Collaborate with Tribal departments to enhance financial wellness support within existing programs.
  • Assist Tribal members with accessing appropriate financial resources and community-based programs.
  • Promote financial stability using trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally sensitive approaches.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, individual supervision, and relevant training.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with disgruntled or distressed clients, maintaining professionalism and empathy.
  • Comply with Tribal laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, human services, education, or a related field preferred.
  • Requires one (1) year of directly related work experience.
  • OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Driving Requirements:

  • Employees may be required to drive for work-related purposes and must maintain a valid Oregon Driver’s License (ODL), meet company vehicle insurance requirements, and provide proof of personal vehicle insurance.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • Completion of Certified Personal Financial Consultant (CPFC) required or must obtain within one (1) year of hire.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills to inspire clients toward financial wellness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat; comfortable with common office technology (printers, copiers, scanners, etc.).
  • Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must have the ability to work with angry or disgruntled clients in a cooperative and effective manner.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
  • Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
  • Occasionally requires lifting of up to 20 pounds.
  • This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
  • Supports a safe work environment by performing all duties in accordance with Tribal safety policies and procedures, and Emergency Management Plan.
  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
  • May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
  • Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
