Our client, a $500M Manufacturer in Los Angeles is in need of an immediately available Interim Director of Accounting.
A rapidly expanding multisite manufacturing and distribution company is seeking a Director of Accounting to lead its general ledger, financial reporting, and treasury operations. This position oversees all corporate accounting functions, branch consolidations, and treasury activities while driving process improvement, system optimization, and operational excellence across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a corporate accounting team of 12 professionals, including supervisors, senior accountants, and consultants.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes for corporate and 30 operating locations across multiple states.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and internal management reports with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain robust accounting policies, internal controls, and GAAP compliance frameworks to ensure audit readiness and data integrity.
- Direct treasury operations, including management of cash concentration, EFT disbursements, payroll, and depository accounts.
- Serve as system administrator for corporate banking and payment platforms, managing entitlements and security for a large user base.
- Lead banking transitions, merchant services integrations, and payment-solution implementations to enhance order-to-cash efficiency.
- Oversee and review account reconciliations (bank and balance-sheet accounts) for completeness and accuracy across all entities.
- Act as primary liaison for external audits and ensure timely preparation of supporting schedules and deliverables.
- Partner with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to provide actionable financial insights to senior leadership.
- Champion system and process improvements, including ERP and payroll platform upgrades, to improve automation and scalability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with AP, AR, Cost Accounting, Operations, and Finance teams to strengthen financial transparency and alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (CPA preferred).
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership within a multi-location or distribution-based organization.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and multi-entity consolidation.
- Hands-on experience in treasury management and banking systems administration.
- Proven track record leading system implementations or ERP/payroll migrations.
- Highly analytical, organized, and detail-oriented with a continuous-improvement mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to lead, influence, and collaborate across departments.
