Director of Cost Accounting

We are representing our client, a startup in the aerospace industry, in hiring a Director of Cost Accounting.

The role will entail building out cost accounting systems and processes, and creating accurate product costing, inventory tracking, and reporting frameworks.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Design and refine cost-accounting models for newly acquired businesses, covering product costs, labor expenses, and overhead distribution.
• Set up and oversee inventory accounting practices, ensuring BOM accuracy, proper tracking of work-in-process, and regular cycle count procedures.
• Develop and roll out standard costing methodologies that deliver consistent and meaningful margin and profitability insights.
• Review cost variances and pinpoint the operational factors contributing to them.
• Collaborate with production teams to confirm the accuracy of labor routings, material consumption, and overhead assumptions.
• Create dashboards and analytical reports that enhance both operational visibility and financial decision-making.
• Work closely with the Head of Finance to deploy automation solutions and embed cost-accounting processes into the broader finance technology stack.
• Provide accurate cost data to support financial statements, forecasts, and budget planning.
• Contribute to the preparation of documentation for audits, lenders, and internal stakeholders.
