Controller – Entertainment Company
An established entertainment company is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee its accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This is a key leadership role for an experienced accounting professional who can manage day-to-day financial activities while partnering with senior management to support business performance and growth.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting skills with a practical, business-oriented approach and the ability to manage a small accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
- Prepare financial reporting packages, including financial statements, cash flow projections, variance analyses, and key performance indicators.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
- Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain strong internal controls and implement improvements to accounting policies and procedures.
- Support consolidated financial reporting and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Coordinate annual audits and prepare supporting documentation.
- Lead annual budgeting and monitor financial performance against established targets.
- Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights and support operational decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.
- Support special projects and additional financial analysis as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience overseeing core accounting functions.
- CPA strongly preferred; candidates with relevant entertainment industry / entertainment services experience will also be considered.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing accounting staff and overseeing AP/AR operations.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems.
