Your Responsibilities
As a Technology Instructor – Precision Construction & Machine Technology, You'll Be a Key Player Shaping How Our Dealers, Employees And Customers Adopt, Understand And Master These Innovations. You'll Train, Inspire, Travel, And Help Bring Groundbreaking Solutions From Concept To Real-world Use. In Addition, You Will
- Partner with the Product Marketing and Training teams to develop and refine technology training content (current and future solutions) for precision construction
- Deliver training sessions (classroom, hands-on, field) to John Deere employees, dealer technicians and customers — both at our Davenport, IA location and Sacaton, AZ
- Evaluate new technology solutions: set up base stations, rovers, modeling/survey systems; test for usability and readiness; provide structured feedback
- Travel (approx. 50 %) to support dealer training, demo sites and customers
What Skills You Need
- Hands-on experience with precision measurement systems: GPS, 2D, 3D topographical modeling / survey systems, base-station/rover set-up and field calibration
- Proven ability (or strong aptitude) to learn grade-control and machine-technology systems
- Deep understanding of customer-applications involving grade control — you know how the equipment is used in real world, not just how it works in the lab
- Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills — you can translate technical concepts into understandable training for non-engineers
- Self-starter mindset, comfortable working independently
- Ability to travel up to 50 % based on business needs
- Strong familiarity with precision-construction tools such as JDLink telematics, SmartGrade™ grade-control, payload-weighing systems, etc.
- Prior work in a dealer environment, construction equipment sales/service or product-training role
- Comfort in field settings: you’re as effective on the demo site or jobsite as you are in the classroom
- Knowledge of the Deere dealer-channel and/or construction products, markets and competitors
- Surveying experience and/or experience with systems from Topcon, Trimble or Leica strongly preferred
- Experience with machine-operation or on-site construction equipment
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical, engineering, construction management, marketing discipline and/or equivalent work experience
