What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hospitality Manager position at Conex RVA?
Conex RVA is seeking an experienced, energetic Venue Manager to lead day-to-day operations at our dynamic outdoor container park, hospitality and entertainment venue.
Conex is much more than a traditional restaurant or bar. Built around a unique outdoor container concept, our venue features multiple bars, River City Smash Burgers, flexible gathering areas and a large event footprint. Throughout the year, the property transforms to host private celebrations, corporate gatherings, ticketed events, live music, community programming, vendor markets, wellness events, family festivals and large-scale activations.
During the holiday season, Conex takes on an especially large themed winter presence, with immersive décor, seasonal programming and high-volume holiday events. The right manager must be excited to help execute these major transformations while maintaining strong daily operations and guest service.
The ideal candidate is a confident, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, nontraditional environment. This person should be equally comfortable leading a busy public service, overseeing a private event, coordinating with vendors and entertainment, and preparing the full property for ongoing activations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily venue, bar and guest-service operations
- Lead, support and hold front-of-house employees accountable
- Manage opening and closing procedures and shift reporting
- Coordinate staffing and operational needs for regular service, private events and large public activations
- Review event details and ensure the team is prepared for scheduled programming
- Serve as an onsite point of contact for event hosts, vendors, entertainers and production partners
- Help coordinate event setup, breakdown, guest flow, signage and use of venue spaces
- Support seasonal property transformations including Conex’s large winter and holiday activation
- Maintain a welcoming, organized and safe outdoor environment for guests and employees
- Monitor service standards, cleanliness, inventory and facility needs
- Address guest concerns professionally and make sound decisions in real time
- Communicate clearly with ownership, kitchen leadership and other department leads
- Support live music, festivals, markets, corporate events and other high-volume programming
- Ensure all ABC, safety and company policies are consistently followed
What We’re Looking For
- Previous restaurant, bar, entertainment venue or event-management experience
- Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment
- Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and decisive during high-volume services and large events
- Experience leading teams and maintaining clear performance expectations
- Comfortable working with event organizers, vendors, musicians, DJs and other teams
- Comfortable managing an outdoor venue through changing weather and seasonal demands
- Strong understanding of guest service and venue operations
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and special events
- Ability to remain active and on your feet for extended periods
Experience with Toast POS, 7shifts, private events, live entertainment or large-capacity venues is a plus.
The Right Fit
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys being at the center of the action. Conex has an energetic, social and community-driven atmosphere, and our programming can range from a relaxed afternoon gathering to a packed concert, immersive holiday experience or full-property activation.
We need a manager who can adapt quickly, lead with confidence and create a consistently strong guest experience—regardless of what Conex transforms into that day.
