Job Summary
The Adult Education ESL Instructor provides engaging, competency-based English language instruction to adult learners from diverse cultural backgrounds. The role focuses on developing learners' English proficiency through individualized instruction, effective teaching strategies, and the use of approved curriculum and online learning tools. Responsibilities include creating a positive classroom environment, monitoring student progress, maintaining attendance and program records, supporting student placement and assessment, and facilitating required EL Civics and CASAS activities. The instructor collaborates with colleagues, participates in professional development, and promotes student success through culturally responsive and learner-centered instruction. Length of Work Year: Adult Education School Year (Part-Time); 2 evenings per week (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday), 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.; anticipated start date: August 18, 2026. Approximately 6-12 hours/week.

1. Valid California CLAD Single Subject or Multiple Subject teaching Credential 2. Experience teaching ESL 3. Experience teaching adults
Required California Teaching Credential Applicants must possess one of the following credentials: • Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential that authorizes English as a Second Language • Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential with full CLAD authorization (e.g. ELA1) or Bilingual authorization • Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Education Specialist Instruction Credential with full CLAD authorization (e.g. ELA1) or Bilingual authorization • Single Subject Teaching Credential in World Languages: ELD
