EXAMINATION PROCESS
1.Training and Experience Evaluation - Pass/Fail
Applications will be screened for best qualified applicants to compete in the competitive examination process.
For those passing the Training and Experience Evaluation (notified after the recruitment closing date):
2. Performance Examination - TBD
The Performance Examination will consist of document creation/revision utilizing Microsoft Office Word and Excel 2016, as well as an on-line multiple choice examination assessing fundamental knowledge for the position.
For those passing the General Fitness / Performance Examination:
3.Structured Oral Interview – Date TBD
The Structured Oral Interview will be before a panel and contain written exercises and questions that assess technical knowledge, experience, and one's general fitness for successful performance in the position.
PLACEMENT ON THE ELIGIBILITY LIST:
Handles follow-ups and expediting of purchase orders;
Contacts vendors for firm delivery information;
Investigates supply, goods, and equipment complaints and contacts the vendors to secure any adjustments and returns;
Handles phone calls and visits from vendors regarding clarification of orders, shipments, or changes in orders;
Secures price quotations;
Notifies requestor of any changes in the purchase order;
Processes receiving information on supplies and equipment purchased for the district, and checks for accuracy in quantities and description;
Finalizes purchase order transactions and approves them for payment;
Initiates correspondence pertaining to inquiries on purchase orders;
Works closely with personnel regarding equipment inventory tagging;
Follows up on delivery and payment authorization;
Maintains files of firms and commodities handled and of catalogs and pamphlets on supplies and equipment;
May be involved with some items requiring routine bidding procedures;
Inputs purchase requisitions and places orders for routine purchases;
Assists in gathering original signature receipt/verification of deliveries to sites.Education/Experience
High School diploma or equivalent; AND two (2) years of increasingly responsible clerical, accounting and/or recordkeeping experience, including one year in school business purchasing or warehousing activities is desirable.
*Alternate variations of education/experience may be considered by Personnel Commission staff as acceptable to qualify for participation in the examination process resulting in an eligibility list.
Licenses/Certifications/Special Requirements
Valid California Class C Driver’s LicenseKnowledge of:
Purchasing policies and procedures;
Types of supplies, materials and equipment commonly used;
Filing systems and general office practices.
Keyboard skills and computer software.
Ability to:
Make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy;
Understand and apply Education Code laws regarding purchasing;
Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records of reports;
Maintain complex financial records;
Operate office equipment including a computer and related software;
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
Salary : $4,578 - $5,529
