Description
The Yard Foreman plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and organized operation of the company’s equipment and material yard. This position is responsible for supervising yard staff, coordinating the movement of equipment and materials to and from solar project sites, and maintaining yard organization and safety. The Yard Foreman works closely with the Fleet & Equipment team, project managers, and field leadership to support ongoing solar EPC operations.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day yard operations, ensuring all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company standards.
Direct and oversee yard staff, including laborers, drivers, and equipment operators.
Manage the receipt, storage, staging, and dispatch of construction materials, tools, and heavy equipment.
Coordinate deliveries and pickups with site superintendents and project managers to meet project schedules.
Ensure equipment is inspected, serviced, and ready for deployment, including tagging, documentation, and compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company requirements.
Maintain accurate yard inventory records, including incoming and outgoing equipment and materials.
Enforce yard safety protocols and ensure staff compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Assist in workforce planning, training, and development of yard staff.
Support administrative tasks including scheduling, equipment logs, and reporting to the Yard Manager/Fleet Manager.
Serve as the primary point of contact for yard operations, troubleshooting issues and escalating concerns as necessary.
Requirements
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with ability to direct and motivate yard crews.
Knowledge of construction equipment, tools, and materials used in renewable energy projects.
Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and jobsite safety regulations.
Ability to operate forklifts, loaders, and other yard equipment.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in record-keeping and yard layout.
Effective communication and coordination skills across multiple departments.
Basic computer proficiency for inventory and reporting systems.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in equipment yard operations, construction, or related field.
Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory or lead role experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; CDL preferred but not required.
Experience in solar, renewable energy, or large-scale EPC construction strongly preferred.
