Main Line Excavator Operator

Job Description:

THIS JOB IS LOCATED IN VERNAL, UTAH

Excavator Operators are responsible for digging trenches as well as transferring materials to and from the trenches and assisting in backfilling and grading of project surfaces. Operators are required to perform equipment checks daily and report any needed maintenance through Maintain X. Equipment, associated tools, and attachments are to be kept safe, clean, and ready to work. Operators are expected to monitor and look-out for crew members, ensuring their safety and their own as a top priority.

Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Performing a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in excavation as well as heavy/highway construction
• Operate Heavy Equipment in a safe and efficient manner while assisting the Foreman in any way necessary to help the job progress
• Daily functions will include the checking of equipment before and after use, reporting any maintenance needs to supervisor or through Maintain X
• Complete a weekly equipment report every Friday
• Assisting in patching asphalt; excavating and filling trenches and ditches
• Maintaining a clean job site: picking up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
• Handling and storing materials
• Loading and unloading trucks and hauling and hoisting materials
• Ensuring that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed; bringing problems to the attention of the Foreman, Safety Director, or HR Administrator

Qualifications:

• Must have valid state driver’s license or government issued ID
• Must be legally qualified to work in the U.S. with appropriate documentation (E-Verify)
• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work
• 1-2 years of experience with underground utilities or similar field
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
