The Role
The Assembly Team Lead is responsible for leading daily assembly operations while actively participating in the build of mechanical and electrical components according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards. This role supports production operations by building, inspecting, and testing assemblies in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working with hand tools and basic measurement equipment. They must be comfortable leading by example in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
What will I be delivering?
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical and electrical components following work instructions and engineering drawings
- Build cable and wire harness assemblies to manufacturing specifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, and basic measurement equipment to complete assemblies
- Perform crimping, soldering, heat shrinking, and cable routing as required
- Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards and specifications are met
- Identify defects or discrepancies and escalate issues to engineering or management as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety guidelines
- Accurately complete production documentation and track work orders
- Support continuous improvement and team production goals
- Lead daily assembly activities and coordinate workflow to meet production schedules
- Train and mentor new and existing members
- Serve as the first point of contact for Assembly Operators for technical questions
- Monitor productivity and quality metrics and communicate updates to management
What do I need to bring with me?
Skills and Experience:
- 2 years of experience in manufacturing or assembly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and work instructions
- Experience using hand tools and basic measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, multimeters preferred)
- Familiarity with cable assembly, crimping, soldering, and wire harness work is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow effectively
- Basic computer skills for documentation and tracking
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aerospace, electronics, or precision manufacturing
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 or J-STD-001 certification
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
- Prior experience training or mentoring team members
