The Crosswalk Monitor will play a crucial role in facilitating safe crossings and promoting pedestrian awareness.
Responsibilities
- Monitor crosswalks during peak pedestrian traffic times, ensuring the safety of individuals crossing the street.
- Assist children and other pedestrians in safely navigating crosswalks, providing clear directions and guidance.
- Communicate effectively with drivers to ensure they adhere to traffic laws and yield to pedestrians.
- Report any unsafe conditions, incidents, or violations to your supervisor.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and transportation officials to enhance pedestrian safety initiatives.
- Maintain a visible presence at assigned crosswalks to deter reckless driving and promote safe behavior.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay informed about safety protocols and community guidelines.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a safety or monitoring role is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with children, parents, and drivers.
- Ability to remain alert and focused during shifts, even in challenging weather conditions.
- Must possess a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to ensuring the safety of others.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings a plus
- First Aid and CPR certification is a plus
