ROLE :

Program Directors oversee the curricular and operational needs of their assigned program. All activities of this position are to make a contribution to the fulfillment of the mission of the university.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily :

Teaching / Instruction

  • This job will require curriculum building / maintenance and instructional units per year.

Monitor all Program Updates

  • Canvas shells
  • Work closely with course Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) regarding edits / corrections.

  • Update content and links as needed at the end of the academic year and following Research & Assessment Day.
  • Track updates utilizing Google Docs.
  • Include updates in the MAED Faculty Resource Center.
  • MAED Handbook and Catalog
  • Cross-check annually and edit as needed.

  • Collaborate with MAED directors for consistency.
  • Website information
  • Cross-check annually and edit as needed.

  • SOE Policies
  • Update annually

  • Participate in planning and implementing Professional Development for all adjunct faculty.
  • Syllabus - all delivery formats
  • Templates

  • Links
  • PLOs
  • Program resource updates (Writing Studio, Graduate Resource Center, library, APA, etc.)
  • Policies
  • Curriculum Maps and Accreditation
  • School Psychologist Performance Expectations matrix and all CTC accreditation renewal documentation (PPSP)

  • Curriculum mapping for WASC (all programs)
  • Online course design to align with Provost's vision
  • Program Design updates to meet CTC PPSP accreditation standards

  • Fieldwork Coordination
  • Train fieldwork supervisors

  • Orient new 590 / 591 students each term
  • Manage students in fieldwork tracking system (Supervision Assist)
  • Liaison for district MOUs
  • Instructional Advisement and Technology Support

  • Serve as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for all School Psychology instructors / CRNs each term. Examples include :
  • Providing technology support with Google Docs, Canvas, etc.

  • Assisting with course set-up.
  • Google Docs management and sharing files.
  • Setting up groups and group submissions.
  • Reviewing policies / expectations with instructors.
  • Grading practices.
  • Guidance in response to student inquiries.
  • General guidance on how to deal with student issues or infractions (Refer to Senior Director when the issue goes beyond the Program Director's purview)
  • Monitor the work of MAED : PPSP Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Communicate readiness tasks / timelines. (Canvas shells, syllabi, course materials, resource center, and textbooks)

  • Advise / assist SMEs on course content updates.
  • Provide all documents to SMEs to prepare them for the instructor.
  • Take the lead to coordinate / prep an agenda / facilitate PD for MAED Adjunct and Action Team meetings.
  • Manage SMEs regarding the Course Suggestions doc in every Canvas shell.
  • Collect & analyze data from student evaluations and share with SMEs for course improvement efforts.
  • Pre-term and Term Start-up

  • Update the Online Teaching Expectations document and Instructor Orientation : Setting Up Your Class document.
  • Establish early communication with SMEs.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and the Senior Director to prepare master shells for cloning.
  • Update and maintain the Canvas course readiness spreadsheet for the Director of SOE Data Management.
  • Respond to emails from the potential pool of instructors teaching in the upcoming term.
  • Send encouragement / advisement / reminder emails (academic warnings, teaching expectations, etc.)
  • Create or update culminating video message for graduates.
  • Textbook Rotation

  • Cross-check all course textbook information with the SOE webpage, master shells, syllabus, FRC, and VitalSource.
  • Annually review and update the textbook rotation sheet.
  • Communicate textbook updates with SMEs.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director to implement changes for the Fall opening.

    Hiring of new adjunct faculty

  • Review incoming CVs.
  • Conduct an initial interview.
  • Meet with and share feedback regarding the candidate with the Senior Director.
  • Provide ongoing support, specifically during the first teaching assignment.
  • Staffing each term

  • Develop a list of faculty to be approved by the Senior Director, utilizing staff procedure guidelines.
  • Oversee and manage the Adjunct Pool document.
  • Oversee and manage the cohort history document.
  • Create an Intent-to-Teach document for each CRN.
  • Update the Master Schedule. (red initially to show staffing, change to white indicating ITT has been signed)
  • Student Issues

  • Meet with instructors to discuss student issues.
  • Meet with advisors to discuss grad plans or the next steps for the student.
  • Call students and work toward resolution and next steps.
  • Communicate and work with the Senior Director and Dean.
  • Communicate and work with university personnel to handle student conduct concerns.
  • Timesheets

  • Review and approve timesheets every other Monday.
  • Update and manage the timesheet tracker.
  • Including monitoring independent study contracts, overload stipends, special assignments

  • Communication with payroll and adjuncts.
  • Regular reminder emails to instructors to submit timesheets and provide assistance with questions / concerns.

  • Sign and submit Timesheet Correction forms.
  • Email and communicate regarding approved or not-approved overages.
  • Adjunct faculty evaluations (IPDs)

  • Complete one IPD per instructor per year. (each IPD takes approximately two hours)
  • Communicate via email or meet with each instructor as a follow-up.
  • Manage and edit the IPD template and cover letter each year. (to reflect policy changes)
  • Additional duties

  • Handle student / instructor issues and questions related to Canvas, courses, pedagogy, etc.
  • When requested, provide data analysis (demographics, student / faculty performance, and feedback) to the Senior Director and / or Dean.
  • Participate in efforts to attract and sustain / retain students.
  • Attend Marketing MAED Information Sessions.
  • Participate in weekly marketing / KTA meetings.
  • Monthly Program Director meetings.
  • Participate in / Lead program information nights with KTA and advisors.
  • Participate in the planning and presentation of Professional Development Meetings.
  • Review student appeal files.
  • Attend and participate in symposia.
  • Data Analysis of the PPSP Program
  • Review the PPSP admission survey (each semester) and exit survey (each semester).

  • Provide Assistant Dean with ongoing updates on data analysis and suggestions for curricular updates, as well as PD for faculty.
  • GPA appeals and admissions questions regarding PPSC students.
  • EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :

  • Master's degree required.
  • California Credential in Pupil Personnel Services, School Psychology required.

    76,000-$112,000 / yr
